I’ve been looking for an is, but I’m at the mercy of craigslist here. This is the only E30 on there at the moment.

It used the economy version of the M20.

The E420 looks tempting.

So it’s slow?

I know, right. Just wish it was a different color.

I agree. That is a car.

It’s 127hp. The 325i makes 168.

In that price range I obviously recommend a Mercury Capri with a V8.
Giving that was my price range last weekend and it was the purchase I made.

The color suits the E quite well IMO but it would definitely look better in black.

10 seconds to 60mph. Very. Slow.

Actually found an ‘89 5.0 Crimson Cat but it was like $7000.

The color underneath the plastidip looks pretty nice too.

Still faster than a 4Runner. Noted though. Gonna look for an i or is.

it should cost more than that, they stopped making the Fox Capri in 86, so that one would be extra rare.

A good friend of mine has a beater 325es that I’ve driven quite a bit(he had his license suspended for an underage drinking citation last winter, I didn’t have a car at college at the time. I got to drive it when I needed a car in return for chauffeuring him when he had to go somewhere. It was also a $900 car which probably made trusting friends with it easier). Anyway, it is not a fast car. The 2.7 in the E models is a pretty industrial unit, the 3.0 V6 in my 4Runner is more rev-happy. Redline is less than 5,000 RPM and fuel cutoff is exactly 5,000 RPM, but low end torque is decent. His doesn’t have a muffler(not a muffler delete, the exhaust just kind of ends under the car where the muffler rusted off) so it makes a lot of noise, though not particularly good noise. It does make nice pops and crackles on liftoff. He also has dumb visual mods and stickers, the car is really just for laughs.
I think it’s a blast to drive. The chassis is well sorted, steering is direct. It’s less refined than my E36 but I honestly think that makes it more fun. It probably helps its case that the owner constantly encouraged me to drive it abusively from the passenger seat(no joke).
I don’t know how I feel about the price on that car though, 3500 is good for E30s right now I guess but I just couldn’t see paying much over 2k for a 325e. Half the fun is it being a beater and for me at least 3k+ is no longer a beater. Also idk how I feel about those wheels.

It’s an ‘83. My mistake. http://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/5843264162.html

Not by much... See my direct comment to your post for details on the car I’m talking about but once it’s winter-beater season and my friend brings his 325es back to school I think a drag race between my 4runner(3.0 5speed) and his 325es wouldn’t be a bad race.

Oops, I meant that for the Benz. The 325 does also look good, especially the wheels. I’m not too sure about the Eta engines in them though.

My 3.0 auto is dreadfully slow and I’m trying to get something not quite so slow.
![]() 11/09/2016 at 13:27 |

I can’t comment on a 3.0 auto but it wouldn’t really make an appreciable difference from my 5 speed. Probably faster, certainly better handling and more fun to drive, but still in the same general ballpark of ‘able to keep up with traffic, but not by much’.

How far is little rock? This ad is severely lacking in information but looks nice and low miles. If it’s got the 2.8l engine it would drive circles around the eta

Bout two hours, but I’m not crazy about E36s.

It’s also only a 4.9, but that’s Ford’s mistake.

Yeah, I know they are kind of unloved for their looks and slightly cheaper construction than the e30 but I think the later coupes wi the color matched sideskirts are not so bad looking. But also, you can get them with the 2.5/2.8 engine for about 1/2 of the e30 325i.
